Candle Colors in Magick

I love candles. I enjoy burning candles. I love the smell of the candle after it’s put out. I love the warmth and glow of the flame. Candles are used in so many ways: ceremonies, and celebrations, rituals, and remembrances to romantic evenings and of course when the power goes out.

When I first began practicing Magick, one of my first purchases to set up my altar was a candle. I have placed ribbons around candles. I have made my own sigil candles. I will post about that another day.

Color is a form of vibrational energy. In practicing candle magick I wanted to match my candles to the energy I wanted to work with. So, I decided to go to the internet for answers. I have compiled a list of candle colors, the energy they represent, and associated planets, and Zodiac signs, and so on. Here is my list so far:

  • white candle- peace, healing, divination, cleansing, blessings, enlightenment, the element of spirit, the Moon, Monday, the Crown chakra, Cancer, the numbers 1, 2, 5, 7, and 9
  • black candle- protection, banish negativity, safety, Saturn, the Root chakra, Capricorn, the numbers 8 and 13
  • brown candle- house blessing, animals, earth, stability, locating lost items, material gain, wealth, healing, Earth, Saturn, Pluto, Saturday, feet, Sacral, and Solar Plexus chakras, Capricorn, Gemini, Libra, Virgo, Scorpio, the numbers 4 and 8.
  • orange candle- creativity, justice, joy, ambition, opportunity, celebration, the Sun, Sunday, the Sacral chakra, Leo, the numbers 1 and 8
  • purple candle- spiritual power, meditation, intuition, break a habit, drive away evil, Jupiter, Neptune, Thursday, 3rd eye chakra, Sagittarius, Pisces, the numbers 7 and 8.
  • lavender candle- peace, gentleness, calmness, inner healing, spiritual growth, Neptune, Venus, Friday, the heart, throat and 3rd eye chakra, Libra, and Pisces.
  • yellow candle- intelligence, luxury, memory, positive attitude, inspiration, confidence, charm, male energy, the East, the element of air, planet Mercury, Wednesday, Solar Plexus chakra, Gemini, and Virgo, the numbers 1 and 12.
  • pink candle- love, caring, friendship, affection, nurturing, femininity, Venus, Friday, the Heart chakra, Cancer, Gemini, Libra, Taurus, Virgo and the numbers, 6 and 9
  • green candle- growth, luck, plants, earth, nature, money, success, North, Venus, Friday, the Heart chakra, Taurus, Libra, and the numbers 2, 3, and 7
  • blue candle- protection, focus, forgiveness, good fortune, truth, calm, the element of water, West, Jupiter, Thursday, Throat chakra, Sagittarius, and Pisces, the numbers 4 and 6
  • red candle- passion, strength, lust, action, independence, South, the element of fire, the root chakra, the planet Mars, Tuesday, Aries, and Scorpio, the numbers 5 and 9

I hope you enjoyed this list. If you have any to add or suggestions for me, please leave a comment. Thanks for supporting my blog. Don’t forget to be generous and be kind and above all be true to yourself!

Full Moon in Scorpio Simple Ritual

Here is a simple ritual that you can do at home to harness the transformative energy of the Super Full Moon in Scorpio. This is a powerful full moon that is the final of three super moons we have had this year, occurring in March, April, and now May.

The items you will need for this ritual are simple:

a candle

incense (preferably sage for its cleansing properties)

crystals (such as clear quartz, which can be used for almost any purpose) this is optional

A piece of paper

A pen

A fireproof container of any kind (bowl, dish, can)

One of the first things I do to prepare for the full moon ritual is tidy up my space a bit. If you don’t already have a designated space, find a place in your home that you are comfortable in and has little distractions. Try to remove any clutter that could distract you from focusing. I like to sweep with intention in a counter clockwise pattern to clear out any stagnant energy. You can add anything to your space that gives you peace or joy such as a vase with cut flowers, candles, photos of loved ones or ancestors, or a figurine or statue. I happen to have an elephant that brings me joy.

Next, I prepare myself. This can be anything from a nice herbal bath with essential oils, candles, and soft music to your favorite meditation or a nice cup of herbal tea. The idea is to get yourself mentally in a relaxed state where you are calm and can clearly visualize your goals for the ritual.

Go to your space and get comfy. I like to begin with lighting my ritual candle. You can use a scent or color that corresponds with the goal of your ritual. For this month, I chose black. This to me symbolizes death and white for rebirth. You can put on some nice relaxing music or even white noise to block out any unwanted distractions.

I like to sage my area to bless the space and clear out negative energy. If you pray, this is a good time to ask for guidance from your guardian angels, or ancestors, or chosen deities to guide you in receiving messages from the divine.

You can hold a chosen crystal or just sit quietly to absorb the peaceful, nurturing energy around you. This is a good time to visualize a white light surrounding yourself and your space. Really connect with your spirit guide, ancestor, or deity. Think to yourself about what you would like to release from your life that is no longer serving your higher purpose. What areas of your life are not uplifting to you. What is blocking your progress in your chosen path? What do you need to release in order to receive these new blessings you desire in your life?

Once you have identified those things to yourself. Grab your pen and paper and start to jot down a few. These can include messages such as: “I release my need to control others and find peace in myself”, ” I release my fear of the future and accept the divine has a plan for me”, “I release my negative self talk and love and accept myself how I am” These are just a few ideas. Take your time and let the ideas come to you.

Once you have completed your list of things to release to the universe, say them out loud if you can to really form intention in your words and what is on the paper. You can cut or tear the paper to read each one individually if you like.

Burn your list or each one while thanking them for being a part of your growth, but now they must be released back to the universe. You are welcome to sit as long as you like with your thoughts. Saying goodbye can be difficult, but know that you are making the way for opportunities and abundance to come your way.

You can bury the ashes or scatter them back into nature depending on your personal circumstances.

I like to thank my chosen ancestors, sprit guides, deities out loud for being with me and blessing me with their presence. If you cannot let your candle burn out on its own, feel free to extinguish it when you are done.

That’s it! You did it! So, on the night of the last Super Moon of the year, I pray you find beauty in the endings you have chosen and open yourself up to the wonderful blessings that are coming your way!

As always, be generous, be kind. And above all be true to yourself.

Blessed be,

Full Moon in Scorpio May 7, 2020

May 7th will bring us to the finale of three super full moons in 2020. This month’s full moon will be in the sign of Scorpio. This moon is symbolic of endings, cleansing, and renewal. This moon will usher in the season of eclipses to finish out the year. Those include a lunar eclipse in Sagittarius (6/5), a solar eclipse in Cancer (6/21), lunar eclipses in Capricorn (7/5) and Gemini (11/30) and finally a solar eclipse in Sagittarius (12/14).

Endings can be bittersweet. We grieve over that which was lost, but at the same time it is through these endings that we can find our best beginnings. It is in this duality of life that we can appreciate the meaning of both. With sadness come joy, through pain comes healing, through discord we find peace and finally through death we find life.

In Hinduism, Shiva is a deity who represents transformation. Through destruction and restoration, Shiva reminds us that endings are beginnings, and that our world is constantly undergoing a cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. (Karen Salmansohn)

Scorpio is represented by the Death tarot card.

Let’s go over the symbolism embedded in this card. First we will start with the skeleton. This represents was is left after death and his armor is what we have that cannot be destroyed. The white horse represents purity. The white rose is also a symbol of purity and beauty and the five petals represent change and transformation.

The other characters in the card represent our attitudes towards death. The bishop is pleading with death to have mercy, the woman is turning away from the reality of death, and the child is unaware and unafraid of death. The king reminds us that no one, not even the rich and powerful can cheat death.

A boat floats down the river, carrying souls to the afterlife. The sun is setting between two towers, as it dies each night and is born again each morning.

It is my hope that as we reflect on this final super moon this year, we will use the transforming energy it brings to create something new in our lives as we also say farewell to those things that have ended and release that which doesn’t serve our higher purpose.

My next blog will be a full moon ritual that you can do at home to harness this transformative energy in your own life.

And as always, be generous, be kind and above all, be true to yourself.

Blessed be,

Christina

North Node in Gemini May 2020

Hello beautiful beings! This morning, May 5, 2020 the lunar nodes left Cancer and Capricorn and moved into the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius. This transition will continue to be an influence in our lives for the rest of the year as they will not reach their next sign until January 18, 2021

What are the lunar nodes? Good question! A lunar node is either of the two orbital nodes of the Moon, that is, the two points at which the orbit of the Moon intersects the ecliptic. The ascending (or north) node is where the Moon moves into the northern ecliptic hemisphere, while the descending (or south) node is where the Moon enters the southern ecliptic…

Ok. But what is the significance? The nodes of the moon represent points of personal karmic imbalance. They help us answer questions such as: What is my purpose in this life? What is my mission? and What do I need to learn while I am here? The nodes hold the key to helping us learn our life lessons and find our true purpose.

The North node represent what we will experience in life and areas that we need to work on in order to grow on a spiritual level and past karmic energies that we need to work through to achieve a higher level of understanding in our existence.

The north node in Gemini is inviting us to look at how our choices and desires are affecting our growth and what we can do to improve our lives and align ourselves with our higher purpose.

The south node in Sagittarius will bring up the baggage of the past and force us to take a look at those things holding us back. It is asking us to give up that which no longer serves our higher purpose.

The South node can be a bit tricky because those are the things that come easy to us. For example, it may me easier to hold a grudge than practice forgiveness when we are wronged. That can be a lesson that our North node is urging us to work through. But, when we strive to emphasize our north node qualities, these life lessons can bring us the greatest happiness and joy in our lives.

Jupiter represents expansion and will be a major influence in the south node. This will shake up our unconscious beliefs and philosophies in life and shine a light on those things that are not aligned with our higher self.

Jupiterian Astrologer Dane Rudhyar described the south node as not only being a place of disintegration but a seed-like re-channeling into creative expression and spiritual development. I will write more on Jupiter and it’s influence at a later time.

Although the nodes just shifted, this event won’t have a major impact until later in the year. December will bring us a total solar eclipse in Sagittarius (12/14) and when Jupiter enters Aquarius (12/19) and conjucts Saturn in Aquarius (12/21).

So what should I do now? Take time to really delve into your belief systems and look for areas that not aligning with your higher purpose and shed those self limiting beliefs and doubts, so that you can grow into your full potential. Be prepared because the end of 2020 will bring about a new collective consciousness and the dawning of an age of Aquarius.

Much love to you all and until next time… Be generous be kind and above all be true to yourself.

Blessed be,

Christina

Pluto Retrograde 2020

Pluto went retrograde on April 25th at 25′ in Capricorn and will be direct on October 4th at 22′ Capricorn. This is a regular cycle that occurs approximately 5 months each year. Pluto is a ruling planet of Scorpio, a very intense zodiac sign, and can influence your most potent and radical transformation.

How will this affect your sign?

Pluto retrograde will be the most intense if you are a Capricorn. It will be the most challenging for Cancer, Aries, and Libra. The signs benefiting the most will be Virgo and Taurus.

Pluto can bring about creative destruction and transiting Pluto brings changes whether you’re ready or not, and you emerge a completely new person. Transiting Pluto in retrograde brings us to a time of reflection in our lives.

This retrograde will be more eventful due to a conjunction with Jupiter. This transit will focus our attention on transformation and spiritual evolution.

Old wounds can be brought to the surface and we challenge those things that have power and control in our lives. Are you controlling someone? Time to let go. Have you let insecurities or fear control your life? Let it go. Is someone controlling you? Now is the time to deal with power struggles and control in a positive and empowered way. Are there habits in your life that have taken control that you need to let go? This can be anything from drinking too much to gambling to porn, overeating or oversleeping. Now is the perfect time to release what doesn’t serve you or help you achieve your life goals. These are some of the questions we can ask ourselves. This is the perfect time to let that shit go! This time of transformation can help us to focus on what and who is truly important in our lives.

The best way to handle this Pluto retrograde is to truly take time to nurture ourselves and our relationships. Don’t forget that together we are better. Remember to be kind. Be generous.

Thanks for stopping by and blessed be,

Christina

What would you do if you knew you would succeed

I saw a picture with this question written on it today as I was scrolling through my social media. “What would you do if you knew you could succeed?”

It really touched me this morning as I pondered that question in my own head more than once.

What would I do if I knew nothing could stand in my way and everything I hoped for was in reach?

Is the fear of going after what we want holding us back? Or is it something else? Have you lost track of what your big dreams really are? What do they look like for you?

These are a few of the questions I have asked myself in the past couple of months. Covid -19 shut down my current job and I have had plenty of time to thing about what I really want for my future. What is important to us always seems to rise to the top during a period of uncertainty and confusion.

I know I have always wanted to own my own store. I have not been in a place financially to make that a reality yet, but it’s always been in the back of my mind.

Doing a tarot card reading for muself the other day, I realized that I can start doing little steps right now to make a reality of my dream. I can start small and take little steps that will eventually lead me to my ultlimate goal.

So, here we are. I am doing it. I have decided to start using my blog page and reach out to other people like me who want to help other people realize their own goals. I have been doing some tarot card readings for friends who are willing. Helping them to realize their goals in life. It is a wonderful feeling to help someone else try to make sense of what is going on around them.

I will be updating all of my social media accounts and getting ready for the next big steps. Tarot readings and getting my subscrition boxes ready to roll out by the end of the summer. I know I can do this!

Stay tuned lovely people. I am going for it!

Peace and love to you all!

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
